The newly appointed United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Eric Meyer, met with the Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Anil Jayantha, at the Ministry of Finance today (21).
Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha first extended his congratulations to Mr. Eric Meyer on his appointment as the new Ambassador. Dr. Anil Jayantha stated that the country’s economy has now been brought to a stable level following the economic crisis that occurred in 2022. The Ambassador and the Minister exchanged views on the importance of foreign investment and trade in taking the country from this stable level towards a transformational stage, and the United States Ambassador agreed to provide support for this purpose.
Mr. Eric Meyer expressed his appreciation for the Government’s fiscal discipline and the measures taken by the Government to stabilize the economy and attract investments.
